First roll

  • It will not pick green burrs still on the plant. Cut or mow first, then roll the loose seed, 2 to 3 passes.
  • Plan on 2 to 3 passes over the same patch.
  • Lightly rake if seed is buried in grass.
  • On grass or hard soil, strap ordinary ankle weights to the side bars, up to 10 lb per side. The roller is light so it will not sink in sand.
  • Empty the catch basket whenever it fills.
  • If the mesh clumps on one side, pull the screen down evenly over the foam and start again.
