Yes — goat heads, sand spurs, grass burrs, and tackweed are exactly what it's built for. The 18" foam roller lifts the burrs off the ground as you push, so they end up in the tool instead of your feet and tires.
The 2.0 XL's roller is 18" wide versus 12" — roughly twice the pickup per pass — so it clears the same yard in about half the passes. Choose the 2.0 XL for bigger yards or heavier infestations; the 1.0 Classic is ideal for patios, driveways, and smaller yards.
Hard-packed dirt, patios, gravel, driveways, and lawns. In grass, plan on multiple passes — burrs hide deeper in turf. On tough or sandy ground, drape ankle weights on the side bars for extra bite.

I borrowed the neighbors 1.0 mower until I could buy my own. I bought the 2.0. I don't like the assembly process but it works really well. II wish I could just go over the same area once on sand and that be enough but it certainly beats picking them up by hand or possibly sweeping them deeper into the sand where they can take root.
